About The Position

The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is offering a career growth opportunity for a motivated and talented individual to join as a Risk Manager. The Regional Risk Manager reports directly to and assists the Regional Director in all aspects of risk and risk-related issues affecting the DDS Central/West Region. The primary focus is ensuring the region complies with all applicable laws and policies to ensure the safety and well-being of the individuals served by the Department. This includes direct responsibility for managing the Regional Director’s responsibilities related to monitoring the investigations process, responding to reconsideration requests, and recognizing safety issues for referral to appropriate persons. Some Administrative Reviews are also completed by the Risk Manager. The position is also responsible for managing the Region's Risk Management System, which involves regional oversight and management of the risk system and all risk committees within the seven areas, Office of Quality Enhancement (OQE) reviews, and acting as a liaison in the trigger reporting system. Participation in Director of Risk Management meetings and serving as a member and consultant on risk issues affecting staff or individuals in the region, such as domestic violence or workplace violence concerns, is also required. This position requires significant travel within the Central/West Region, as well as travel to regularly scheduled mandated statewide meetings at various locations throughout the state.

Requirements

  • At least five (5) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management.
  • Of the above, at least one (1) year must have been in a project management, supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.

Nice To Haves

  • A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required (A) experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required (A) experience.
  • A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required (A) experience.
  • A Doctorate degree in a related field may be substituted for four (4) years of the required (A) experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Regional Director in all aspects of risk and risk-related issues affecting the DDS Central/West Region.
  • Ensure the region is in compliance with all applicable laws and policies to ensure the safety and well-being of the individuals served by the Department.
  • Manage the Regional Director’s responsibilities related to monitoring the investigations process.
  • Respond to reconsideration requests.
  • Recognize safety issues and refer them to the appropriate persons.
  • Complete Administrative Reviews.
  • Manage the Region's Risk Management System.
  • Provide regional oversight and management of the risk system and all risk committees within the seven areas.
  • Conduct Office of Quality Enhancement (OQE) reviews.
  • Act as a liaison in the trigger reporting system.
  • Participate in Director of Risk Management meetings.
