The Risk Manager is responsible for the administration of risk management programs and initiatives for XL Construction and XL Industries' other affiliated entities. This position regularly interacts with operations staff, teams and projects, departments, risk management staff, as well as XLI leadership. Building relationships and being a trusted advisor are crucial in this role. The primary responsibilities include working with the Vice President / Director of Risk Management and other senior company leaders, department heads, project executives, and general superintendents to identify, assess, manage, and mitigate corporate and primarily project risks. This role also involves partnering with Project Executives, Project Managers, and General Superintendents to mitigate project operations risks, administering the Project Execution Plan process, leading risk register workshops, and evaluating select projects for compliance. Additionally, the Risk Manager provides risk management services and support for XLI affiliated entities, supports legal risk management including contract review and negotiation, and manages significant insurance claims, litigation matters, or disputes. The role also involves leading or contributing to cross-departmental initiatives, developing and managing corporate and risk programs, and leading or supporting training programs related to risk. Reporting includes various reports and updates to leadership, as well as corporate and entity governance management. The Risk Manager stays educated regarding future trends to provide strategic planning and proactive risk mitigation opportunities.
