About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to provide operational and analytical support to BayPort’s risk management and compliance functions. Working under the direction and oversight of the Compliance Supervisor, the Risk Management Specialist is responsible for executing assigned compliance, risk, and audit-related duties, supporting the development of enterprise risk management (ERM), and assisting with fraud prevention and internal audit efforts.

Requirements

  • Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related business field, or the equivalent work experience and/or post-secondary education.
  • Required Certification: America’s Credit Unions’ Certified Credit Union Compliance Officer (CUCO) or Credit Union Enterprise Risk Management Expert (CUERME) or must obtain within 12 months of employment.
  • Required Experience: 1-3 years' experience in roles related to compliance, audit, risk management, or fraud.
  • Required Knowledge: Working knowledge of audit procedures, internal controls, compliance, and practices and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including but not limited to use of complex functions (i.e., VLOOKUP, IF statements, etc.), charts, pivot tables, data manipulation, etc.

  • Exceptional written communication skills, including dictation, spelling, and grammar accuracy.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of financial institutions and products and services offered.
  • Proficiency with computer assisted auditing techniques (CAATS) software (e.g., IDEA, ActiveData, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and supporting Credit Union software.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with executing compliance management program tasks as assigned by the Compliance Supervisor.
  • Monitor legislative developments and advise management of emerging compliance issues and operational impact.
  • Conduct risk assessments and assist with developing audit/review guidelines.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, and regulatory examinations and perform follow-up procedures, as necessary.
  • Assists with maintaining the CUOnline Profile and completion of the bond renewal questionnaire.
  • Coordinate policy reviews and update the ‘Policy Review’ worksheet under the direction of the Compliance Supervisor.
  • Review quality control/file maintenance reports and perform follow-up procedures as necessary.
  • Monthly monitor inactive/dormant accounts for suspicious activity or unauthorized file maintenance.
  • Perform necessary due diligence on dormant accounts and remit funds to the State’s Unclaimed Property Division.
  • Support ERM development, including enterprise-wide and operational risk assessments and reporting processes.
  • Perform additional duties as requested to support the Credit Union’s compliance and risk management objectives.
