About The Position

This is an 8-month rotational training program for an intern in Risk Management and Insurance at Aon's Halifax Office. The program aims to provide a foundation and understanding of Aon’s risk management philosophies and processes for a long-term career. The intern will be aligned with a specific business unit/office and follow a distinct developmental program, with a mentor to support their integration into Aon. The role involves technical training, on-the-job placements, and special projects in assigned business units/offices. Performance management will include coaching and development for future business leaders.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Enrolled in a Post-Secondary degree.
  • Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and self-managed.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to positively respond to urgent requests.
  • Self-motivated and able to adapt to changing roles.
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
  • Ability to learn from experience and apply the learnings to new situations.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to working in different business/segment teams.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Package.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Account Executives and Brokers in managing key processes for client risk management needs.
  • Undertake client-facing activities associated with the ongoing service of an account.
  • Gain exposure to technical and administrative coordination on all aspects of the account.
  • Process client requests.
  • Review documentation for policy changes.
  • Work with the marketing/broking team on negotiating coverage terms for renewal and/or new business clients.
  • Gain exposure to key business/segment groups in the Halifax Office, such as construction, renewable energy, aboriginal, public sector, marine & aquaculture, and claims advocacy.
  • Participate in technical training, on-the-job placements, and special projects in assigned business units/offices.
