About The Position

The Risk Engineer Executive is an expert-level individual contributor in risk engineering and loss prevention, serving as a recognized authority on complex risk management, property protection, operational resilience, and loss control strategies. This role provides enterprise-level technical leadership and consultative expertise to clients, carrier partners, producers, account teams, and senior leadership. As a trusted advisor on the most complex and technically challenging risk exposures, the Risk Engineer Executive develops innovative risk mitigation solutions, influences risk management strategy, and helps clients improve risk quality, reduce loss frequency and severity, and optimize insurance program outcomes. The role is frequently engaged in large accounts, specialized industry sectors, emerging risks, and high-impact client situations requiring deep technical expertise and advanced professional judgment. Operating with significant autonomy, the Risk Engineer Executive serves as a thought leader, technical mentor, and market-facing expert while contributing to organizational differentiation, client retention, growth initiatives, and risk engineering excellence across the brokerage.

Requirements

Expert-level knowledge of risk engineering, loss prevention, operational resilience, property protection, and enterprise risk management principles.
Recognized expertise in one or more specialized risk disciplines such as property engineering, process safety, natural catastrophe management, industrial operations, construction risk, energy risks, transportation, healthcare, or manufacturing.
Deep understanding of insurance carrier engineering methodologies, underwriting practices, and loss prevention standards.
Exceptional ability to evaluate highly complex and ambiguous risks and develop practical, innovative solutions.
Advanced consulting, advisory, and relationship-management skills.
Ability to influence executive leadership, clients, carrier partners, and internal stakeholders through credibility and expertise.
Expert analytical and problem-solving skills, including interpretation of engineering, operational, claims, and exposure data.
Outstanding communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to lead through influence, mentorship, and expertise without direct management authority.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, occupational safety, risk management, industrial hygiene, environmental health & safety, or a related technical discipline required.
8 – 10 years of progressive experience in risk engineering, property engineering, loss control, safety consulting, insurance risk management, or related technical fields.
Significant experience supporting complex insurance brokerage, carrier, consulting, or multinational client environments.
Demonstrated expertise supporting large accounts, complex risks, specialized industries, or global operations.
Recognized internal and/or external reputation as a subject matter expert within the risk engineering profession.
Ability to travel as required to support client engagements, industry events, and technical consulting activities.

Nice To Haves

Professional certifications such as PE (Professional Engineer), CSP (Certified Safety Professional), ARM (Associate in Risk Management), CPCU, CFPS, ASP, or equivalent credentials strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Serve as the organization’s principal technical authority on risk engineering, loss prevention, property protection, operational risk, and resilience strategies.
Provide advanced consulting services for the organization’s largest, most complex, and highest-risk client engagements.
Evaluate highly complex property, casualty, operational, and business interruption exposures and develop strategic recommendations to improve risk quality and insurability.
Lead technical assessments involving complex manufacturing operations, critical infrastructure, catastrophe-exposed properties, supply chain vulnerabilities, and specialized industry risks.
Provide expert guidance regarding fire protection systems, natural catastrophe exposures, business continuity planning, equipment reliability, process safety, life safety systems, and operational resilience.
Develop innovative solutions to address emerging risks, evolving technologies, and changing risk environments.
Support enterprise initiatives involving complex technical, regulatory, and risk management challenges.
Act as a trusted advisor to executive-level client stakeholders regarding strategic risk management, loss control investments, and operational risk reduction opportunities.
Partner with producers, client executives, and account teams to strengthen client relationships and support retention and growth objectives.
Advise clients on enterprise risk improvement initiatives designed to reduce losses, improve underwriting outcomes, and enhance organizational resilience.
Provide strategic consultation regarding risk financing considerations, loss trends, operational exposures, and long-term risk management planning.
Participate in executive-level presentations, stewardship meetings, and strategic client engagements.
Support complex account reviews and high-value renewal strategies through technical expertise and risk engineering leadership.
Assist clients in understanding and applying industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices relevant to their operational environments.
Serve as a senior technical resource in discussions with insurance carriers, engineering consultants, and underwriting partners.
Support market negotiations and placement strategies by communicating risk quality, operational improvements, and mitigation efforts.
Advise brokerage leadership regarding carrier risk appetite, underwriting expectations, engineering standards, and market trends.
Facilitate resolution of complex engineering and underwriting issues affecting account placement, renewal negotiations, or client strategy.
Provide technical leadership during engineering reviews, market presentations, and specialized risk evaluations.
Enhance relationships with carrier engineering and underwriting teams through subject matter expertise and market credibility.
Serve as an internal and external thought leader on risk engineering trends, emerging hazards, and loss prevention best practices.
Research and evaluate evolving risks such as climate-related exposures, cyber-physical systems, supply chain disruption, advanced manufacturing technologies, and operational resilience challenges.
Develop technical resources, white papers, educational content, and client-facing materials to promote organizational expertise.
Represent the organization at industry conferences, carrier forums, professional associations, and client events.
Contribute thought leadership to support organizational growth strategies, market differentiation, and brand recognition.
Influence the development of risk engineering methodologies, service offerings, tools, and consulting frameworks.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Risk Engineers, Sr Risk Engineers, and other risk management professionals.
Support development of organizational standards, quality expectations, and technical best practices.
Serve as an escalation resource for the most complex and challenging risk engineering matters.
Review and provide feedback on technical reports, engineering assessments, and risk improvement recommendations.
Collaborate with leaders across brokerage, claims, analytics, underwriting, and client service functions to address complex client needs.
Support strategic projects requiring advanced technical expertise and specialized professional judgment.
