About The Position

AQR Capital Management is a global investment firm focused on delivering long-term results through rigorous testing of financial theories. The Risk, Compliance, and Legal Engineering team is seeking a software engineer to design, build, deploy, and maintain its application suite. This role involves close collaboration with business teams and other engineering groups to understand AQR's investment strategies and the platforms supporting risk management and compliance. The engineer will participate in the entire lifecycle of application development, from understanding business requirements to production support, working with business users, engineering teams, and infrastructure groups to enhance systems and workflows. The position requires collaboration, managing multiple priorities, and contributing thoughtful solutions in a fast-paced, learning-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline
  • 2+ years of programming experience in Python, SQL, JavaScript and/or .NET
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of working with or analyzing data is a plus
  • Experience with web application development, APIs, cloud technologies, data visualization tools, or AI-assisted development tools is a plus (e.g. Angular, CSS, Tableau, AWS, RESTful services, and microservices)
  • Experience working in the financial industry is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Analyze business requirements and support application development efforts
  • Develop and support APIs and application workflows
  • Aggregate and manage data from a variety of internal and external sources
  • Implement business logic and support system integrations
  • Develop data visualizations, dashboards, and workflow tools for business users
  • Support and enhance production applications and workflows
  • Collaborate with development teams to access and expose data through well-defined interfaces
  • Monitor application and operational processes and assist in troubleshooting issues and performance bottlenecks
  • Work with firm-approved artificial intelligence tools and evolving technologies to improve development workflows and business processes
  • Write and maintain technical documentation
