About The Position

As our Risk and Assurance Support Officer, you'll play a key role in supporting the delivery of risk and assurance activities across Cadent's Capital Delivery projects and our supply chain. This role is focused on helping the business identify risks, improve controls, and drive continuous improvement across operational activities. You will work closely with the Risk, Reporting and Assurance team to support the planning, design, and delivery of second-line assurance activities across Cadent's Capital Delivery process and its supply chain/contract partners. The goal is to ensure assurance programs are robust, risks are effectively managed, and recommendations lead to meaningful improvements in performance and compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys analysing information, investigating issues, and working collaboratively with stakeholders to improve business processes and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of assurance, auditing, risk management, or compliance activities within a regulated environment.
  • Ability to assess information, identify trends, and provide practical recommendations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across operational and corporate teams.
  • Passion for identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls, and business performance.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation, standards, and assurance frameworks.
  • Confidence investigating issues and supporting effective resolution.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Lead or Internal Auditor qualification (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or ISO 45001) or equivalent internal auditor training.

Nice To Haves

  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification preferred.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and delivery of assurance plans that focus on key business risks and controls.
  • Deliver assurance reviews and support investigations relating to business events, operational activities, and change initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes and strengthen control environments.
  • Work closely with operational teams, contractors, and business leaders to agree actions and drive positive outcomes.
  • Produce clear assurance reports that communicate findings, recommendations, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Promote best practice and support the sharing of lessons learned across the organisation.
  • Contribute to regulatory reporting and assurance activities that support compliance and business performance.
