About The Position

The Risk and Safety Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining a secure environment for guests and employees across the resort. Working within the Risk and Loss Prevention department, this position focuses on hazard reduction, safety training, incident investigation, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive, highly confidential guest and employee matters with utmost professionalism, tact, and sound judgment.
  • Experience documenting, assessing, and resolving operational or personnel incidents in a prompt and secure manner.
  • Experience with claims management (General Liability).
  • Experience with behavior-based safety programs.
  • Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Education, training and or experience with OSHA, Fire Life Safety, EPA and other Risk and Safety related organizations.

  • Completed college coursework or higher education (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with all departments to reduce hazards and improve safety performance for guest and employees.
  • Assist in development, conduct, and tracking of safety training across the resort.
  • Assist the Investigation Team in the conducting reports and determining root cause analyses of all work and guest related injuries and prevention matters.
  • Assist Guest Experience in the resolution of guest incident matters.
  • Update and track certificates of insurances from vendors and maintain files of COI.
  • Assist in the monitoring and recordkeeping of work and guest related injuries, litigation, and automobile claims.
  • Work closely with the departments, contractors and LP members to reduce hazards and improve safety performance.
  • Conduct safety inspections/walkthroughs and monitor department activities.
  • Assists Risk and Safety Manager in the completion of safety related requirements, including Incident reporting, JSA (Job Safety Analysis), LOTO (Lock Out/Tag Out) procedures, and CS (Confined Space) entry documentation, SDS and facility chemical inventory. Assistance includes training, and teamwork as appropriate.
  • Follow up on all issues arising out of new accidents involving Guests and Employees in order to adjust operations and minimize a reoccurrence.
  • Assist in tracking of incident metrics, analyze trends in incidents/injuries, and recommendations of corrective actions.
  • Assist in preparation and conducting of safety training sessions.
  • Assist in the development of safety portions of daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal Service Guidelines and Checklists.
  • Assist safety, claims management and regulatory compliance efforts, with testing, tracking, and reporting as necessary.
  • Ability to conduct inspections and audits to evaluate the safety protocols followed throughout the resort to protect guest and employees.
  • Assist with the Safety Committee and Chairpersons on developing the safety culture with behavior-based safety approach.
