About The Position

The Risk and Safety Coordinator participates in policy development, clinical safety inspections, clinical safety training, and compliance with the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). This position interfaces with internal staff and community partners and works with local and regional agencies to coordinate and maintain daily compliance, risk management, and safety efforts as necessary.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in risk management, business, human services, or nursing field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of safety program administration/management with an emphasis on OSHA regulations and compliance in a healthcare setting, preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of safety rules and regulations at all levels of government, including federal, state, and local, that affect health center operations.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including proficiency in using common word processing and presentation software, and Outlook email.
  • Must possess strong communication skills and work well with external organizations and staff.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA certification, preferred.
  • Ergonomics certification, preferred or obtained within first 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Review incident reports and patient events, conduct root cause analyses, and identify trends related to patient safety and quality of care.
  • Identify potential risks across various areas, analyze their potential impact, and develop strategies to minimize or eliminate them.
  • Gather and analyze data related to risk incidents, claims, and other relevant metrics to identify areas for improvement and track progress.
  • Assist in the creation and management of policies, procedures, and forms.
  • Coordinates and conducts safety and occupational health training to maintain staff awareness in utilizing safe practices in the workplace and maintain training documentation.
  • Work with various departments and stakeholders to promote a culture or safety and risk awareness.
  • Conduct individual ergonomic assessments and recommend workplace changes to improve health and safety.
  • Maintains adherence to the Respirator Protection Program and coordinates respirator fit testing and tracking.
  • Maintain and update virtual Safety Data Sheets binders and partner with clinic leadership to maintain updated physical binders for all locations.
  • Physical attendance is an essential element of the job and necessary to perform the essential functions of the Risk and Safety Coordinator position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Staff will abide by the Code of Conduct as documented in the Corporate Compliance Manual.
