About The Position

Safety, Risk & Regulatory Compliance Coordinator Program & Location: Quality and Compliance / New Bedford Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, Health Sciences, Healthcare Administration, Safety Management, or a related field. Pay Range: $28.20-$32.30/hr (experience & education dependent) Status: Full Time Shift: Monday- Friday 9am-5:30pm Requirements Must always present as courteous and professional Demonstrated flexibility and ability to perform multiple tasks Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to organize ideas in logical and clear fashion Ability to organize and prioritize a demanding workload while adhering to project timelines Knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs Must have the ability to work with others in a cooperative and collaborative manner Ability to understand and implement Trauma Informed Care Maintains appropriate boundaries and adheres to code of ethics Comply with federal and state regulations concerning confidentiality Understand and adhere to all applicable policies and procedures of HPAO Complete TB screening requirements Valid Driver’s License Travel between Sites Required Duties & Responsibilities Conduct routine environmental safety rounds at all High Point sites, with emphasis on ligature/self‑harm risks, contraband prevention, and overall therapeutic‑environment safety. Lead incident investigations related to environmental hazards, behavioral safety events, near‑misses, facility issues, or staff/patient injuries; document findings and develop corrective actions. Perform root‑cause analysis (RCA) and partner with clinical, nursing, and quality teams to implement and follow up on corrective and preventive actions Monitor environmental and operational risks across inpatient, outpatient, and residential behavioral health programs, escalating high‑risk issues promptly. Support ongoing regulatory readiness for state licensure surveys/accreditation/regulatory visits Coordinate with clinical leadership to ensure physical spaces support safe patient care, including supervision levels, room safety, and emergency response readiness. Maintain and track environmental documentation, including rounds logs, risk assessments, incident summaries, mitigation plans, and safety data across programs. Partner with facilities teams to ensure timely resolution of environmental issues (e.g., broken doors, cameras, lighting, plumbing issues that impact patient safety). Train staff and new hires on environmental safety, incident reporting, hazard identification, environmental protocols, and emergency response. Assist with emergency preparedness planning, drills, and after‑action reviews ensuring considerations are incorporated into emergency scenarios. Support data collection and reporting for safety and risk‑related committees, including trends in incidents, environmental findings, and progress on mitigation plans. Coordinate or participate in multidisciplinary safety huddles, incident reviews, and behavioral-health risk committees, providing environmental safety insights. Manage third‑party contractors or vendors performing environmental services, ensuring compliance with safety expectations in behavioral‑health spaces. Ensure interim life‑safety compliance and construction oversight through consistent monitoring, documentation, and regulatory reporting across all project stages Promote a culture of safety, encouraging proactive hazard reporting, staff participation, and continuous improvement in the behavioral‑health environment. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, Health Sciences, Healthcare Administration, Safety Management, or a related field. 2–4 years of experience in environmental compliance, safety, facilities operations, or regulatory oversight within a healthcare, behavioral health, or human‑services setting.
