About The Position

Idaho Power is looking for a Risk Analyst or Senior Risk Analyst to join our Treasury Services team. This role plays a critical part in providing safe, reliable, and affordable energy to communities across Idaho and Oregon. The position is based at Idaho Power’s downtown Boise location, offering flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote. Risk Analysts identify, assess, and monitor Idaho Power's market and credit risk exposures across energy trading, commodity transactions, commercial agreements, and strategic business activities. They ensure compliance with risk policies and regulatory requirements, perform valuation and exposure analysis, monitor counterparty creditworthiness, and recommend risk mitigation strategies. Senior Risk Analysts provide technical leadership, serve as subject matter experts, mentor team members, support complex transactions, and act as the primary risk resource in the manager's absence.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field (finance, accounting, economics, or a related field).
Risk Analyst: 3 or more years of directly related experience in credit, risk, or commodity risk management including in-depth analysis of financial statements.
Senior Risk Analyst: 6 or more years of professional experience in credit, risk, or commodity risk management including in-depth analysis of financial statements.
Knowledge of Derivatives, energy trading, collateral management, finance, and accounting.
Knowledge of Utility finance/credit, NAESB, ISDA, WSPP, netting agreements, long-form confirmations, corporate guarantees, letters of credit and other related agreements with counterparties.
Knowledge of Collateral management practices, including assessment of unsecured exposure, collateral thresholds, negotiating credit support provisions, margining requirements, and the impact of collateral on counterparty credit risk.
Excellent organizational, planning, verbal and written communications with strong attention to detail.
Expert-level complex risk scenarios analysis and works effectively with internal and external partners.
Strong negotiation skills and ability to draft contracts and agreements.
Analyzing documents and data for conformance to established policies and procedures.
Conducting research and provide thoughtful, thorough analysis.
Maintain objectivity and confidentiality.
Experience with VBA, SQL, and Power BI.
Ability to perform quantitative and qualitative financial analysis.
Ability to analyze financial health of counterparties.
Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work.
Ability to defend decision-making criteria with other departments or counterparties.
Ability to balance commercial responsiveness with prudent credit and/or risk expectations.
Ability to work in a time sensitive environment with the ability to adapt to changing needs.
Works independently with minimal supervision and intervention.
Demonstrated ability to work confidently with senior leaders or Traders to resolve issues.
Demonstrated ability to influence others to meet desired outcomes and deadlines.

Nice To Haves

Master of Business Administration (MBA) (Preferred for both Risk Analyst and Senior Risk Analyst).
Risk Analyst: Professional experience in risk management or back-office banking operations supporting credit and risk management functions, including in-depth analysis of financial statements, evaluation of creditworthiness, risk monitoring, exposure assessment, and compliance with credit policies (Preferred).
Senior Risk Analyst: 7 years or more of industry specific experience in credit risk management (Preferred).
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) (Preferred).
Works independently with limited supervision/oversight.

Responsibilities

Identify, assess, and monitor Idaho Power's market and credit risk exposures across energy trading, commodity transactions, commercial agreements, and strategic business activities.
Ensure compliance with risk policies and regulatory requirements.
Perform valuation and exposure analysis.
Monitor counterparty creditworthiness.
Recommend risk mitigation strategies such as collateral, guarantees, and other credit support arrangements.
Provide technical leadership for the risk function (Senior Risk Analyst).
Serve as subject matter experts in market risk, credit risk, collateral management, and industry agreements (Senior Risk Analyst).
Mentor team members (Senior Risk Analyst).
Support complex transactions and negotiations (Senior Risk Analyst).
Act as the primary risk resource in the manager's absence (Senior Risk Analyst).
