About The Position

The Hopkins County Rising Leaders Academy is a professional development opportunity for current certified staff within Hopkins County Schools. The program aims to build leadership capacity within the district by providing participants with an introduction to school leadership at both the building and district levels. It assists participants in preparing for leadership roles and offers professional growth through group discussions, job-shadow experiences, and other active leadership activities. This is not a paid position, and a limited number of participants will be selected.

Requirements

  • Be a current HCS employee in good standing.
  • Minimum of three years teaching experience.
  • Possess a sincere interest in serving in a leadership role (i.e., Instructional Leader, Assistant Principal, Principal, School Counselor, etc.).
  • Be willing and capable of investing a certain amount of their own time to the program.
  • Submit a Professional Resume with the application.
  • Submit a cover letter explaining your desire and commitment to being a participant.
  • List three references from professional colleagues (one reference should be your principal or supervisor).

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the Rising Leaders Academy Orientation and Meet and Greet.
  • Attend eight (8) after-school leadership seminars from 4:30pm-7:00pm.
  • Complete an administrative job-shadow day.
  • Engage in summertime leadership experience.
  • Participate in a book study and other assignments.
