About The Position

Pacific Ice Rink is seeking a reliable and motivated individual to join our team as a seasonal, part-time Rink Attendant. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall facility operations, ensuring a positive and safe experience for all patrons. While you will often work independently, your ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain the facility is crucial. This position offers flexible scheduling during the hockey season and comprehensive training, even if you have no prior experience with ice resurfacing or skate sharpening.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work well in a team environment.
  • Must be highly motivated to learn new skills, such as ice resurfacing and ice edging.
  • Must have the ability to supervise and offer direction to rink attendants.
  • Must have the ability to solve problems as they arise and perform tasks without supervision.
  • Must be able to assume a positive and active role at the rink, even under stressful conditions.
  • Must have the ability to be firm with participants when necessary and make sound decisions to ensure safety.
  • An ability to interact and communicate well with others is essential.
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and/or written instructions efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to complete daily reports.
  • An understanding of basic mathematics is required.
  • Be able to follow safety guidelines and exercise good judgment.
  • Must be physically strong enough to lift and move heavy objects, such as hockey nets.

Nice To Haves

  • Enjoys hockey.
  • Prior experience driving a Zamboni.
  • Prior experience sharpening skates.

Responsibilities

  • Keep all areas of the facility neat, clean, and safe, including sweeping and mopping restrooms, locker rooms, shower areas, lobby, meeting rooms, and bleachers.
  • Remove trash, change lights, and clean rink glass.
  • Ensure all entrances are clear and safe of debris and snow.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all patrons, greeting them with a smile and responding kindly to their needs.
  • Handle all phone inquiries in a kind and courteous manner.
  • Sharpen skates (full training provided).
  • Sell rink-related items such as tape, skate laces, and mouth guards.
  • Accurately process all cash received and complete required reports.
  • Operate the scoreboard (training provided).
  • Open and/or close the facility as required, completing all security procedures.
  • Be available to work nights and weekends.
