About The Position
The Mechanical Licensing Collective (MLC) is seeking a temporary Rights Management Temp to assist with a backlog project. This role is ideal for someone with a "data geek, music nerd and technophile" mindset, who can leverage their knowledge of the music business, from creation to copyright to cash. The position requires strong attention to detail, proficiency with technology, and good relationship skills. The assignment is projected to last 6-9 months, with a possible extension, and may involve working up to 37.5 hours a week with occasional extra hours and overtime, though the schedule is flexible. The MLC offers continuing education through free webinars, hands-on training, and access to Coursera online learning programs. This is a hybrid position based in Nashville, TN, with onsite expectations on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Requirements
- Music business knowledge with an emphasis on copyright and licensing fundamentals
- Proven experience working independently with a high level of dependability
- Experience handling a high volume of data with sharp attention to detail
- Proficiency in using Excel and/or data platforms
- Must have access to a computer and high-speed internet service
Nice To Haves
- Experience with CRM systems is preferred
- Experience with computer focused work for long periods of time preferred
Responsibilities
- Research copyright information
- Review publishing agreements and documentation
- Gather data and information from internal or external partners about conflicts or disputes and enter into an account database
- Prepare notices of dispute that are correct and of high quality
- Track activity with notices and routinely conduct clean-up tasks to maintain accurate information
- Escalate complicated conflicts for further review and align on next steps for resolution
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to develop and improve resolution effectiveness and research strategies
- Meet productivity standards for throughput
- Quickly align work with new procedures
