By joining our Project Development Section as a Right of Way Agent I in Hopkins County, you’ll have the opportunity to under immediate supervision, perform beginning level professional work in one or more phases of the highway right of way program.

Requirements

Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or related field.

Must possess a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification.
Within six (6) months of employment, shall provide the hiring agency documentation that employee is a Notary Public properly commissioned and bonded in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification.
Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possess and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Learn how to prepare eminent domain appraisals.
Develop negotiation skills.
Research skills for courthouse records, property ownership, liens, and sales data.
Physically inspect properties to ascertain improvements, dimensions, and location of unseen utilities.
Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

Assist appraisers in gathering data to write appraisals including compilation of sales data.
Performs minimally complex appraisals.
Examines records for title abstractions, property ownership, mortgage, encumbrances or tax delinquency.
Delivers checks to property owners, assists in closing and release of mortgages and liens.
Conduct remediation and reclamation investigations, monitor clean up, review contractor plans, to ensure compliance with federal state laws and regulations.
Assists with negotiations for acquisition of property for highway projects.
Performs minimally complex acquisitions.
Assists relocation assistance agents in carrying out the relocation assistance program.
