Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in rigging in the Shipyard environment
  • OSHA certification in rigging required
  • Qualified Signal Person Certificate or similar is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of rigging equipment and safe lifting techniques.
  • Ability to read load charts and rigging plans.
  • Ability to lift heavy loads, work at heights, and operate in physically demanding environments.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems quickly during lifting operations.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools relevant to rigging.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical training in rigging or lifting operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and inspect rigging equipment such as slings, shackles, chains, and cables.
  • Assist in lifting and moving heavy materials and equipment using cranes, hoists, and other lifting devices.
  • Ensure the proper and safe attachment of loads to lifting equipment.
  • Communicate with crane operators to direct and guide load movements safely.
  • Dismantle and store rigging equipment after operations are completed.
  • Follow safety guidelines and procedures for all rigging activities, including OSHA regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of rigging gear to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Identify potential hazards and take corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Participate in safety briefings and training sessions related to rigging operations.
  • Work closely with crane operators and other team members to coordinate and execute lifting operations.
  • Communicate clearly during lifting operations to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Assist other personnel as needed with manual labor tasks when rigging duties are not required.
  • Maintain accurate records of rigging equipment used in operations.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, damage, or required repairs to supervisors.
