About The Position

The Rigger is responsible for safe and efficient movement, lifting, positioning, and securing materials, equipment, and structural components using cranes, hoists, chain falls, and other rigging equipment. This position works closely with crane operators, supervisors, and craft personnel to ensure all lifting activities are performed safely and in accordance with company policies and project requirements.

Requirements

NCCER Rigger certification.
Ability to pass all pre-employment screenings and site-specific requirements.
Knowledge of rigging practices, equipment, and safe lifting procedures.
Ability to identify proper slings, shackles, hooks, chains, and other rigging components for various lifts.
Understanding of load weight calculations, sling angles, and center-of-gravity principles.
Ability to inspect rigging equipment and identify unsafe or defective conditions.
Ability to communicate effectively with crane operators using standard hand signals and radio communication.
Ability to read and understand lift plans, safety procedures, and project specifications.
Strong commitment to workplace safety and hazard recognition.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Ability to perform physically demanding work in varying environmental conditions.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, reach, climb, balance, push, and pull while performing welding and fabrication activities.
Ability to perform welding in multiple positions and body orientations, including standing, kneeling, crouching, bending, and working in restricted-access areas.
Ability to perform repetitive hand, arm, and upper-body movements associated with welding, grinding, cutting, fitting, and material handling.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and handle heavier materials or equipment using appropriate assistance or material-handling equipment.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work from scaffolds, elevated work platforms, pipe racks, and other industrial work areas as required.
Ability to work on uneven, muddy, rocky, or otherwise variable walking and working surfaces.
Ability to work outdoors in heat, humidity, cold, rain, wind, and other weather conditions.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, welding hood, face shield, gloves, hearing protection, FR clothing, steel-toed footwear, FR clothing, fall protection, respiratory protection and other project-specific PPE.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Minimum of one (1) year of industrial, commercial, or construction rigging experience preferred.
Current TWIC card may be required based on project location.

Responsibilities

Inspect and select appropriate rigging equipment for lifting operations.
Attach, secure, stabilize, and guide loads during lifting and moving activities.
Signal and communicate with crane operators to safely execute lifts.
Inspect rigging gear before each use and remove damaged equipment from service.
Assist in the loading, unloading, relocation, and positioning of materials and equipment.
Verify load stability and ensure proper rigging techniques are utilized at all times.
Participate in lift planning and hazard assessments prior to performing work.
Follow all OSHA regulations, company policies, and client safety requirements.
Maintain clean and organized work areas.
Attend safety meetings, training sessions, and toolbox talks as required.
Work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
