The Rigger will be responsible for assembling rigging to lift and move equipment or material on maintenance and construction projects.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent
  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
  • Knowledge of all types of slings/chokers
  • Must ensure all rigging hardware and slings meet the company quarterly inspection criteria
  • Written pre-employment qualification test
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
  • Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
  • Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Assembling rigging to lift and move equipment or material on maintenance and construction projects.
  • Selects cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves according to weight and size of load to be moved.
  • Attaches pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings and gin pole booms, with bolts and clamps.
  • Attaches load to crane hook with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes and chains.
  • Gives directions to equipment operator engaged in hoisting and moving loads.
  • Ensures the safety of workers and material handlers using hand signals, loudspeaker or telephone.
  • Sets up, braces and rigs hoisting equipment.
  • Splices rope and wire to repair slings and tackles.
  • May direct workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment into ships, railroad cars or trucks.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
