About The Position

Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. is seeking a Rigger for a project in Columbia, South Carolina. The role involves selecting and setting up rigging and hoisting equipment, attaching loads for crane movement, and coordinating load movement with crane operators and other workers. Significant travel may be required. Benefits and paid time off eligibility begins after three months.

Requirements

Skilled in written and verbal communication.
Complete all required SIC safety and general job training.
Observe SIC and customer safety and quality processes and procedures at all times.
Effectively use all required personal protective equipment.
Lift up to 50 pounds.
Safely operate all involved equipment and tools.
Safely access properties, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops, elevated positions, and confined spaces.
Meet the strenuous physical demands of the position, including standing for long periods, bending consistently, and working in confined spaces, on ladders, in personnel lifts, in workboats, and in awkward body positions.

Responsibilities

Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves based on the weight and size of the load.
Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures using bolts and clamps.
Attach loads to crane hooks using grappling devices such as loops, wires, and chains.
Direct crane operators during hoisting and load movement using hand signals, loudspeakers, or telephones to protect workers and materials.
Set up, brace, and rig hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches.
Splice rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle.
Coordinate equipment and material movement according to visual signals and directions.
Rate information using standards that can be measured or checked.
Detect, recognize, and respond to dangerous conditions or situations.
Maintain regular attendance.
Perform other duties as required.
