About The Position

As part of the technical team, the Ride Operator is responsible for operating the ultimate flying ride, ensuring the timing of different segments of the attraction, staying on track and on schedule, all while keeping an eye out for the safety of guests and team members. Ride Operators must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a positive outlook, and a desire to make Flyover Chicago a one-of-a-kind, wonderful experience for guests. We are hiring for seasonal part-time and regular full-time GEG positions. The wage for this role is $20/hourly USD.

Requirements

• Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, computer, and technical systems
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and guest service skills
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Positive, adaptable, and resourceful with a proactive, team-oriented attitude
• Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and attention to detail
• Comfortable standing, walking, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments for extended periods
• Ability to safely work at heights
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds as needed
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Nice To Haves

• Fall protection training or previous experience is considered an asset
• Previous experience in attractions, amusement rides, tourism, or hospitality is preferred
• Knowledge of the Chicago area and local attractions is an asset
• Public speaking experience and fluency in a language other than English are considered assets

Responsibilities

• Operating the Flyover Chicago ride
• Monitoring and always ensuring guest and team member safety
• Communicating efficiently using proper radio protocol
• Performing site opening and closing duties, including basic ride checks
• Recovering ride malfunctions
• Coordinating ride evacuation in accordance with procedures
• Looking out for and informing Supervisors and Technical team of safety concerns
• Other duties as needed
