About The Position

Creates and maintains RedHat Linux virtual machines running in a cloud infrastructure (Amazon AWS). Evaluates systems for IAVA compliance and applies necessary security updates/patches. Performs command line system administration tasks on virtual machines. Handles regular system backups and periodically tests backups for functionality. Communicates with developers and dev ops team members to provide system administration support. Applies patches and upgrades. Troubleshoots server issues. Administers customer accounts. Deploys monitoring tools. Deploys applications and tools. Assists with escalated customer tickets. Installation and cabling of equipment.

Requirements

  • Active and current TS.SCI w FSP through MD
  • Linux command line system administration (CentOS, RedHat, Amazon Linux, or equivalent)
  • Experience applying system updates via yum or equivalent patching repository
  • Ten (10) years of experience as an SA
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Five (5) years of additional SA experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within a cloud environment a plus (Amazon AWS, Azure, or equivalent cloud infrastructure with virtual machines)
  • Experience or knowledge of RedSeal Network Mapping tool a plus
  • Knowledge of software deployed on systems a plus but not required (Elasticsearch, Docker, Kubernetes, Nifi)
  • Syslog/NxLog
  • Nagios or other similar monitoring applications
  • Scripting experience (Python/Perl)
