RF Test Support Engineer

Celestica International LPNewmarket, ON
$70,000 - $110,000Onsite

About The Position

Celestica is seeking a detail-oriented RF Engineer to lead New Product Introduction (NPI) and production support for our next-generation above 24GHz antenna systems. This is a hands-on RF Production Support role. Rather than initial design, your expertise will be applied to 24Ghz test execution and complex failure analysis. You will be the lead for New Product Introduction (NPI) and production reliability and test yield improvements.   While this role focuses on the above 24Ghz spectrum, we value a strong foundation in core RF principles above all else. If you have experience at 24GHz or even lower-frequency high-power RF and are eager to master the nuances of mmWave, we encourage you to apply. We provide the environment for you to scale your expertise to the cutting edge of antenna technology.

Requirements

  • mmWave Theory: Mastery of transmission lines (Microstrip, Stripline, and Waveguides). At 24GHz, you must understand how skin effect and dielectric loss impact performance.
  • S-Parameter Analysis: Advanced interpretation of S11 and S21 to differentiate between assembly defects (e.g., cold solder, epoxy bleed) and fundamental design non-conformance.
  • Antenna Metrics: Solid grasp of G/T, EIRP, and beamforming characteristics essential for antenna performance validation.
  • VNA: Proficiency in advanced calibration (SOLT, TRL, waveguide cal). You understand that at 24GHz, cable stability and precise connector torque (e.g., 1.85mm/2.4mm) are critical to measurement integrity.
  • Signal Integrity: Experience measuring EVM (Error Vector Magnitude) and ACLR to ensure modulation quality.
  • OTA (Over-the-Air) Testing: Experience with Anechoic Chambers, including Near-field to Far-field transformations, especially for Antenna-in-Package (AiP) architectures where physical probing is not an option.
  • Mechanical Sensitivity: Ability to diagnose failures caused by micron-level shifts in PCB stack-ups, substrate roughness (Dk/Df variance), or random alignment.
  • Interconnect Diagnosis: Expert troubleshooting of high-frequency launches and connectors. You can identify "crushed" center pins or dielectric deformations that cause 24GHz reflections.
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC): Utilizing data-driven methods to identify yield trends, perform root-cause analysis on batch failures, and implement corrective actions.
  • Strict adherence to RF Safety Protocols regarding high-frequency exposure limits.
  • Understanding of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) sensitivity for mmWave components, which are often significantly more fragile than standard RF chips.
  • BSEE required (MSEE preferred) with a concentration in Electromagnetics or RF/Microwave engineering.
  • 1 - 5 years of relevent experince in RF/Microwave production or design.
  • Candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada and meet all other requirements under CGP.
  • Job offers will be conditional upon candidates undergoing a successful security screening per the Controlled Goods Regulations.
