About The Position

PGS Worldwide is seeking an RF Test Engineering Technician in Andover, MA for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. The RF Test Engineering Technician will provide hands-on laboratory and technical support to RF and microwave design engineers. This role includes troubleshooting RF and digital circuits, configuring test benches, operating advanced electronic test equipment, collecting measurement data, and producing engineering documentation, schematics, and technical reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6–8 years of relevant experience, or master’s degree with 4–6 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience troubleshooting RF and digital circuits.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience using electronic laboratory test equipment.
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power supplies, and signal generators.
  • Knowledge of PNAs and signal generators or analyzers.
  • Ability to configure test stands and laboratory test benches.
  • Experience collecting RF test data, including power, S-parameters, harmonics, phase noise, and noise figure.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with electrical component parameters and packaging.
  • Ability to read block diagrams, schematics, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to perform assembly directly from engineering drawings without detailed work instructions.
  • Proficiency using a microscope for inspection and assembly activities.
  • Ability to safely handle ESD-sensitive devices.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • General knowledge of RF systems and electronic assemblies.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Electronics or a closely related technical field.
  • Microelectronics assembly experience.
  • Soldering and electronic assembly experience.
  • Wire-harness fabrication experience.
  • Familiarity with RF modules, including amplifiers, mixers, switches, frequency-generation circuits, and frequency-conversion circuits.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to RF and microwave design engineers.
  • Troubleshoot RF systems, digital circuits, and electronic assemblies.
  • Set up and operate RF test benches and laboratory equipment.
  • Conduct engineering tests and record measurement data.
  • Perform preliminary analysis using established formulas and procedures.
  • Gather, format, compile, and maintain laboratory and engineering data.
  • Produce reports, flowcharts, block diagrams, schematics, and related documentation.
  • Track engineering design changes and test results.
  • Assemble electronic hardware according to drawings and specifications.
  • Build wire harnesses when required.
  • Support engineering evaluations, development programs, and laboratory activities.
