About The Position

The RF / Satcom Technician specializes in the diagnosis, repair, and validation of satellite ground terminal equipment and high-frequency RF systems. You will manage the end-to-end Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) process for sophisticated hardware, ensuring that returned units are analyzed for root causes and restored to factory specifications. This role bridges technical engineering and customer support, requiring deep expertise in signal flow and precision testing.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in RF system troubleshooting, electronics manufacturing, or satellite terminal maintenance.
  • Deep understanding of RF principles, satellite theory, and signal flow in transmit/receive paths.
  • Hands-on experience operating test equipment to include signal generators and spectrum analyzers.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to manage projects and testing processes.
  • TS/SCI w/ poly is required.

Nice To Haves

  • BS in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent military SATCOM training (e.g., Army MOS 25S).
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using ticket management systems like ServiceNow.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and test returned satellite modems, block upconverters (BUCs), low-noise block downconverters (LNBs), and power amplifiers to replicate field failures.
  • Utilize specialized test equipment—including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters, and oscilloscopes—to measure signal quality, gain, and frequency response.
  • Coordinate the full return process from initial request intake to final shipment of repaired or replacement units.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to identify recurring hardware trends and propose design improvements to minimize future field returns.
  • Maintain detailed logs of failure modes, diagnostic steps, and repair actions.
  • Devise test plans, test site scheduling, equipment calibration and setup, RF signal measurement and data analysis.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to changing needs and requirements.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently or in a group setting.
