About The Position

Apple is seeking an early-career RF engineer with strong programming skills to validate the RF performance of monolithic cellular transceivers, with a focus on PLLs and frequency-generation subsystems. The role involves hands-on silicon bring-up and characterization to verify that new designs meet specifications and support Apple wireless products. The engineer will define validation strategies and pass/fail criteria, execute measurements, and analyze performance against specifications. In an agentic engineering workflow, the engineer scopes problems, directs AI agents to help with specifications, code, lab setups, and data, and remains accountable for verifying each result using deterministic checks and independent reviews. The role also develops documented, scalable automation and data-analysis tools, and communicates results while collaborating across teams to debug hardware and software issues.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Python programming.
  • Hands-on experience with standard laboratory equipment, including spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
  • Experience with board-level troubleshooting.
  • Ability to process and analyze data using libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, or Matplotlib.
  • Solid foundation in RF and mixed-signal theory, particularly PLLs, LNAs, mixers, and oscillators.
  • Familiarity with RF measurement concepts such as phase noise, harmonics, IP3, and noise figure.
  • Understanding of cellular standards such as 5G NR and LTE.
  • Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, focused on RF/analog circuits or signal processing.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants or agents, together with the judgment to verify their output.

Responsibilities

  • Own bring-up and characterization of frequency-generation subsystems in cellular transceivers.
  • Define validation strategies and pass/fail criteria, execute complex measurements, and analyze performance against specifications.
  • Scope engineering problems and direct AI agents in implementation and execution; verify their results against specifications using deterministic checks and independent reviews.
  • Develop scalable, well-documented automation frameworks and data-analysis tools usable by engineers and AI agents.
  • Report technical results clearly and collaborate across functional teams to debug hardware and software issues.
