About The Position

At Raytheon, the Effector RF Design Department is seeking a highly motivated RF Mechanical Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 who will have the skills and passion to develop complex Radio Frequency (RF) systems, subsystems and components, including antennas, RF circuit cards, and RF test-equipment. A successful candidate is one who functions in a multi-disciplined team, properly applies engineering tools and processes, and is a self-motivated problem solver with a positive attitude and willingness to learn. All interns will work within a larger team at Raytheon. Interns perform meaningful engineering tasks for their assigned projects and will also have access to a variety of career development opportunities. These include access to technical mentors and the ability to “shadow” experienced professionals in order to learn about real industry positions.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session .
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session
  • Coursework, project, internship, or professional experience in one or more of the following areas: manufacturing and design, thermodynamics and heat transfer, vibrations, materials, mechatronics, and/or statics.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date

Nice To Haves

  • Class projects, professional internships, or academic research demonstrating the ability to apply technical coursework.
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD design (preferably Creo Parametric).
  • Experience in antenna and/or electronics packaging.
  • Experience creating engineering drawings and fabricating prototype designs
  • Familiarity with the application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Self-motivated problem solver with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating in a multi-discipline team setting to solve complex engineering problems
  • Creating 3D CAD models and engineering drawings for RF product designs
  • Developing prototype hardware designs and coordinating fabrication
  • Performing hands on integration and test support for prototype hardware
  • Holding design and drawing reviews with peers and subject matter experts
