This role involves designing and developing highly integrated RF and wireless systems for exciting hardware launches within the Spectacles team. The engineer will collaborate with various internal and external teams, create schematics for complex systems, and oversee PCB layout. Responsibilities also include developing test plans, performing RF validation, debugging hardware issues, designing prototypes, and authoring documentation.

Requirements

  • Strong RF engineering fundamentals including RF system analysis and link budgets
  • Thorough understanding of RF PCB design, associated constraints, impedance matching, and/or filter tuning
  • Experience with hardware level board design including schematic capture and CAD layout
  • Ability to develop and execute test plans to validate circuits, components, and electrical systems
  • Demonstrated ability to use common RF and electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and power supplies
  • Familiarity with tools like Cadence Allegro, OrCAD Capture, Advanced Design Systems, and/or Matlab
  • Understanding of RF behavior and fundamentals including impedance matching, noise figure, mixing, linearity, and smith charts
  • Working knowledge of wireless communication standards including WiFi, BT/BLE, GNSS, 4G LTE, 5G, etc
  • Understanding of layout strategies that mitigate desense and/or EMI, enable signal integrity, and provide isolation
  • Experience designing systems that include high-speed digital interfaces such as MIPI CSI / DSI, PCIe, SDIO / eMMC, UFS, etc.
  • Proficiency with RF simulation/design tools (e.g., CST Microwave Studio, Keysight ADS, XFdtd, etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field such as electrical engineering or equivalent years of experience
  • Demonstrated experience designing integrated RF/electrical circuits and systems, RF system analysis, component and chipset selection
  • Ability to travel including domestic and international (up to 15%)
  • 10+ years relevant experience

Nice To Haves

  • Master's or PhD in Wireless, Electromagnetics, Electrical engineering or related field
  • Ability to solder small discrete components such as 0402s, 0201s and 01005s
  • Experience designing and/or scoping integrated RF and electrical components within a single module

Responsibilities

  • Design and/or develop highly integrated RF and wireless systems that contribute to exciting launches of hardware here at Spectacles
  • Collaborate closely with internal and external teams such as mechanical, software, industrial design teams, and suppliers
  • Create schematics that include not only RF components, but also high speed digital systems, power supplies, sensors, etc.
  • Perform, supervise, and/or review layout for PCB, flex, and rigid-flex designs
  • Develop test plans, perform RF validation and generate validation reports
  • Debug hardware issues, including baseband and RF circuits.
  • Design electrical and wireless prototypes for new product concepts
  • Author clear and comprehensive documentation

Benefits

  • paid parental leave
  • comprehensive medical coverage
  • emotional and mental health support programs
  • compensation packages that let you share in Snap’s long-term success
