About The Position

RTX is seeking an RF Electrical Engineer to join the Airborne Radar Electronics Receiver / Exciter Hardware Design Group in El Segundo, CA. This role involves working with a team of experts on complex problems in the aerospace and defense industry. The position offers an exceptional foundation to advance skills and contribute to a safer, more connected world. The engineer will be responsible for circuit analysis, simulation, design, documentation, obsolescence resolution, troubleshooting hardware performance issues, and hardware integration, test, and verification. They will also collaborate on designing Special Test Equipment (STE), hardware and software testing, and supporting production for various RF components and assemblies. The role requires analyzing hardware specifications to determine requirements and developing solutions for test issues, as well as enhancing productivity and efficiency. Interaction with test technicians, factory facilitators, operations managers, other engineers, Quality Assurance, and Reliability personnel is expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.
  • Courses taken includes RF and Microwave Circuit Design
  • U.S. citizenship is required
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical Circuit Testing and Troubleshooting: Experience in testing and diagnosing issues in electrical circuits to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
  • Laboratory Equipment Proficiency: Skilled in operating standard electrical engineering lab equipment, including Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, and Power Meters.
  • Design and Simulation Software: Proficient in using industry-standard design tools such as Keysight ADS, Sonnet EM, Ansys HFSS, AutoCAD, and comparable platforms for circuit design and electromagnetic simulation.
  • Programming and Software Development: Hands-on experience with software tools and programming languages, including C, C++, LabWindows CVI, and Matlab, for automation, data analysis, and engineering applications.

Responsibilities

  • Circuit analysis, circuit simulation, design, documentation, trade assessments for obsolescence resolution, troubleshooting and resolution of hardware performance issues and hardware integration, test and verification
  • Design Special Test Equipment (STE)
  • Hardware and Software Testing
  • Work with Microwave RF circuits, Radio Frequency Assemblies (RFAs), Microwave Integrated Circuits (MICs), Integrated Microwave Assemblies (IMAs), Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) & Production support
  • Analyze hardware specifications to determine hardware requirements
  • Develop solutions to test issues
  • Develop productivity and efficiency enhancements
  • Interact with test technicians, factory facilitators, operations managers, other engineers, Quality Assurance and Reliability personnel
