The Power & GaN Technology Group is responsible for the design and production of RF Power Transistor and Amplifier Modules. We are currently looking for a Principal RF Design Engineer working in our design center located in Morrisville, NC (RTP area) reporting to the Engineering lead. A Principal Pallet Design Engineer will be responsible for developing RF Amplifier Pallets and Modules, from conceptual to production release phases, according to MACOM’s New Product Development procedures. This includes: Work in a multi-disciplinary team across multiple locations to develop single- and multi-stage RF pallets and module products. Be responsible for designing, simulating, building, and testing power amplifier pallets. Including developing schematics, layouts, and assembly drawings. Work with product line managers and customers to ensure specifications and timelines are met. Collaborate with the device design team to optimize GaN high power amplifiers for customer specific applications. Work with assembly team and product engineering team to ensure first prototypes meet manufacturability requirements and to transfer products to production. Document, characterize, and release pallet products for high volume production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, physics, or similar field with minimum of 8+ years experience, or Master’s degree with minimum of 6+ years experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of RF circuit architecture and RF module system design
  • Experience in advanced high power RF measurements, GaN power amplifiers, mixed signal systems, and/or power management circuits.
  • Familiarity with RF measurement equipment (network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, power meters, etc.) and strong hands-on RF test skills.
  • Experience with EDA/ECAD tools (Keysight ADS, MWO, Altium, HFSS or similar simulations tools).
  • Experience with PCB layout and signal integrity analysis
  • Strong hands-on skills and board level tuning experience.
  • Good communication, organization and documentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build long lasting partnerships.
  • Ability to work in fast pace environment and across multiple teams.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to details.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • U.S. Persons (U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents, or individuals granted asylum or refugee status) will be considered for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with MCAD (Solidworks or AutoCAD) or thermal simulations a plus.
