About The Position

This position performs revenue cycle duties including processing patient insurance information through the patient intake process, collecting payment on outstanding patient balances, and resolving credits when overpayments are received from payers and refunds need to be issued. Example of daily responsibilities includes performing duties for the revenue operations department related to either medical insurance collections or credits, or setting patient insurance coverage. This role involves communicating with insurance payers to ensure proper insurance coverage for patients or to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement for dialysis services rendered at clinics. It also requires responding timely and accurately to payer communications, collaborating with other revenue operations teams to ensure seamless processes, and partnering with clinic teammates such as Insurance Counselors, Social Workers, and Facility Administrators to ensure timely and accurate insurance information. The role also involves helping to identify process changes and opportunities for continuous improvement, and maintaining current patient account information at all times. Maintaining confidentiality of all company and patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and DaVita policies is also a key responsibility. Other duties may include working overtime as needed, attending team meetings, phone conferences, and training, and knowing, understanding, and following teammate guidelines, employment policies, and department or company procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to adapt quickly
• Ownership: Teammates in this position will own a book of business. With some support of their leadership, teammates in this role should demonstrate drive and initiative to work through their queue.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of revenue cycle, insurance rules, and regulations for federal, state, and/or managed care payers in multiple states
• Knowledge of medical billing and reimbursement practices
• Usage of DaVita billing and reimbursement systems
• Basic medical reimbursement terminology
• Basic knowledge of healthcare reimbursement accounting principles

Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality of all company and patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and DaVita policies
• May be asked to work overtime as needed
• Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training as needed
