About The Position

This position assists in reconciling patient care information relative to the billing of ambulance transport and in quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives for billing. The Revenue Recovery Specialist responds to customer questions and concerns related to billing and serves as a liaison to the billing vendor and hospitals for patient demographic and patient care information, ensuring the accuracy of billing and patient information submitted. This role also assists in data collection and reporting as required by local, state, and federal agencies, and audits payment batches for reconciling deposits and payments. Additionally, the specialist will assist internal and external customers and perform other duties as required. This position is part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) offering career progression and potential salary incentives based on performance, qualifications, and experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years of experience in moderately difficult clerical accounting duties involving the preparation, processing, and maintenance of detailed accounting/financial records or bookkeeping practices; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office 365 applications to perform clerical and billing-related tasks, including data entry, document preparation, and email communication.
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and develop and maintain effective working relationships with division members, county personnel and the general public.
  • Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in conducting billing research, preferably in an Emergency Medical Services or medical office setting
  • Knowledge of ambulance billing issues
  • Some knowledge of HIPAA compliance and Medicare and Medicaid
