About The Position

This role is responsible for assisting with the coordination, implementation, ongoing maintenance, and evaluation of system functionality for HIM related applications, including Optum 3M encoder, nthrive Correct Code, Epic’s Application Module(s), and other workflows as assigned. The associate will also assist with Clinical, Financial, and Operational systems, and possess extensive knowledge of the Mosaiq Radiation Oncology software system. Key responsibilities include presenting recommendations and solution sets to meet Revenue Integrity and clinical efficiencies, focusing on the impact on quality outcomes and efficiencies. The role also involves providing clinician education to ensure accurate and complete medical record/coding documentation standards are met, and assisting providers with coding training and document template recommendations. The associate will assess the effectiveness of Revenue Integrity and its impact on workflows in maximizing documentation, charge capture, and supporting best clinical, operational, and financial outcomes. This position requires a professional, self-directed approach to cooperative/collaborative relationships throughout the organization, demonstrating trust, honesty, and respect. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with peers, co-workers, directors, physicians, office staff, and other departments, with the ability to work independently and with others. The role also requires the ability to adapt to change rapidly and prioritize activities to complete tasks in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in related area or equivalent level of training/experience
  • Five (5) years healthcare experience
  • Current certification in medical coding
  • Familiar with health information management, healthcare operations including clinical and business, Revenue Integrity/Medical Coding workflows
  • Ability to organize work and attend to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and multiple schedules
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies necessary to meet the Medicare Conditions of Participation; DNV; HIPAA; Federal and State regulations as applicable to in an acute care hospital
  • Extensive knowledge of Mosaiq Oncology software and oncology coding

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with HIM, Revenue Cycle, Epic’s various application module(s)
  • Applicable healthcare experience with the Ambulatory and/or Inpatient Department(s) medical coding, workflows, certified in medical coding
  • Revenue cycle management experience, information and operational workflows
  • Ten (10) or more years specialty coding experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide Clinician education to ensure accurate and complete medical record/coding documentation standards are met.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with specialty coding, including Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Diagnostic Imaging, Cardiology, etc.
  • Excellent research skills, ability to articulate, disseminate, and educate coding standards and updates.
  • Assist providers with coding training and document template recommendations to ensure accurate and thorough documentation standards are met to fulfill the rules and regulations required by Medicare, DNV, and all regulatory standards.
  • Assesses the effectiveness of Revenue Integrity and impact on workflows in maximizing documentation, charge capture, supporting best clinical, operational and financial outcomes.
