About The Position

Department of Revenue is recruiting for a Revenue Agent 2 (RA2) position. We are looking for a talented, detail-oriented individual to join our Collections Division in the Tax Collections Unit 2. This position is headquartered in our Salem office; however, the successful candidate may be eligible for in-state hybrid work. Hybrid work consists of performing duties onsite in a standard office environment and working remotely. This position involves fieldwork and requires a valid driver’s license. In order to be considered for Department of Revenue recruitments, you must reside within the state of Oregon. Current Revenue employees who live outside of Oregon may apply and will be considered.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in direct collection of past due accounts (telephone or face-to-face) including knowledge of field collection techniques.
  • Collection experience must have been your primary responsibility, not incidental to other major duties, and have included: tracing and contacting debtors; effecting collections by telephone or letter; determining need for, and authorizing, payment plans; and applying a knowledge of business and accounting records to determine the extent of liability and appropriate collection techniques.
  • On your application, be specific in describing your collections experience in each of the areas listed; and in explaining how you gained your knowledge of field collection techniques.
  • Some positions in this class may require an Oregon driver's license valid for the class of vehicles used by the employing agencies.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. Applicants who require VISA sponsorship will not be considered at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Locate customers, search for assets, employment, sources of income and determine collection potential of accounts by performing field, computer, and telephone research.
  • Contact customers or representatives by phone or in person, to encourage payment.
  • Negotiates and establishes payment arrangements.
  • Manage an appropriate workload in GenTax via “get next task.”
  • Maintains the integrity of the agency’s computerized databases by verifying and updating confidential information when individuals who owe contact the department.
  • Assists and educates the public in person, by correspondence, and by telephone to answer in-depth questions regarding collection procedures of various programs, and options available to customers to resolve their liabilities.
  • Answer general questions about various programs administered by the department.
