Revenue Accounting Manager

LiveKit
•$109,000 - $147,000

About The Position

LiveKit is hiring a Revenue Accounting Manager to serve as the technical authority on revenue accounting and own the full Order to Cash cycle. The role covers sales-team coordination, contract review, ASC 606 assessments, revenue workpapers and schedules, documentation of accounting conclusions, and support for billing and collections. The revenue model includes usage billing, prepaid credit drawdown, concurrency pricing, and enterprise arrangements, with policies and processes still to be built. The manager will establish and document revenue accounting policies, own the monthly revenue close and revenue-related external audit, automate billing-to-revenue reconciliation, govern billing accuracy and collections, and oversee commission capitalization and amortization under ASC 340-40. The role also reviews non-standard deal structures before signing so accounting implications are addressed in advance.

Requirements

  • Licensed CPA.
  • Big 4 or comparable technical accounting foundation, plus industry experience in a high-growth startup environment.
  • Demonstrable ASC 606 experience with usage-based or consumption revenue.
  • Ability to write technical memos that clearly present facts, guidance, analysis, and conclusions.
  • Experience assessing GAAP guidance and implementing it in real-world situations.
  • Hands-on ownership of a monthly revenue close and experience closing revenue through at least one external audit.
  • Comfort serving as the technical authority without a supporting team.

Nice To Haves

  • Billing system implementation or migration experience, such as Metronome, Stripe, or Zuora.
  • Pre-IPO or first-audit experience.
  • Enough SQL proficiency to validate a recognition schedule against raw usage data.

Responsibilities

  • Author revenue accounting policies for principal versus agent on brokered inference, breakage on expiring credits, performance obligation identification and allocation, minimum commitments versus overages, and contract modifications, supporting each policy for external audit.
  • Own the monthly revenue close, including revenue recognition, deferred revenue rollforward, contract asset and liability balances, and flux analysis.
  • Own the revenue portion of the external audit, from the PBC list through technical accounting positions.
  • Replace manual revenue entries with an automated billing-to-revenue reconciliation and a documented exception process, with invoice accuracy above 99% and root-cause tracking for misses.
  • Govern Order to Cash, including billing accuracy, dispute resolution, and accounts receivable and collections processes with DSO and aging targets.
  • Own commission capitalization and amortization under ASC 340-40.
  • Review non-standard deal structures before they are signed and determine their accounting consequences.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity package.
  • Health, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Flexible vacation policy.
