Earn some more college credit, build your resume, have fun, and make lifelong friends. 2027 Dates Staff Training: May 23 - June 5 (2 weeks) Camp: June 6 - Aug 7 (9 weeks) Don't forget you can earn internship, work study, or research project credit for the summer!

Requirements

  • Completed at least 1 year of college education or equivalent.
  • A desire to positively impact the life of a child and a willingness to put the needs of campers first.
  • Have a passion for science, animals, and childhood development.
  • Able to effectively communicate ideas and instructions in a constructive manner.
  • Self-motivated and able to work on tasks and assigned goals with minimal supervision.
  • Be willing to learn new concepts and skills.
  • Able to work in a team and both give and take direction from others.
  • Willingness to adhere to the camp’s code of conduct, rules, and policies.

Nice To Haves

  • Cabin Counselors and Instructors live in a cabin group of 16 campers and provide activity instruction to campers during the day.
  • Out of Cabin positions are also available.
  • Additional leadership training and certifications are available to qualified candidates, including high-ropes course and lifeguard certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Work cooperatively with fellow staff to provide a healthy, safe, and enjoyable camp environment and experience for all campers.
  • Provide guidance to campers on their schedule, activity choices, and abiding by camp rules.
  • Ensure campers are on time to activities with the appropriate supplies.
  • Assist campers at meal times and in the cabin to ensure campers are maintaining health and hygiene practices such as showering, wearing clean clothes, and getting appropriate sleep.
  • Lead cabin activities, songs, and games that are engaging and age-appropriate.
  • Provide emotional and behavioral support to campers as needed by following behavior management techniques as outlined in the staff manual and during training.
  • Instruct assigned camp activities to campers.
  • Ensure the safety of all campers when participating in camp activities.
