About The Position

Grant Mechanical of Traverse City, Michigan, is growing! We are seeking a Retrofit Sales Comfort Specialist to consult with customers, design replacement solutions, and sell heating, cooling, and ventilation systems for existing homes or buildings. As a 24/7 emergency service facility, Grant Mechanical offers overtime opportunities and consistent year-round work. Join us and be part of a dynamic and growing team! This job involves a specialized focus on Retrofit HVAC Sales, meaning you will be primarily responsible for consulting with customers, designing replacement solutions, and selling heating, cooling, and ventilation systems for existing homes or buildings. Your work will include assessing the customer's current setup and estimating a wide variety of replacement units, such as high-efficiency air conditioners, furnaces, boilers, ductless systems, and heat pumps, along with identifying necessary upgrades to key components like ductwork, thermostats, and electrical connections. You'll also handle customer education and financing options for these upgrades, which includes recommending related equipment like indoor air quality (IAQ) products, humidifiers, and smart controls, ensuring the customer receives a comprehensive, energy-efficient solution tailored to their specific comfort needs.

Requirements

  • Proven track record in outside sales, direct-to-consumer sales, or consultative selling, preferably within the HVAC, home services, or construction industries.
  • Strong understanding of residential or commercial HVAC systems, including heating, cooling, ventilation, and indoor air quality products.
  • Ability to assess existing infrastructure, perform heat load calculations (e.g., Manual J), and accurately size replacement systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills with a natural ability to build trust and educate customers on technical concepts in an easy-to-understand way.
  • Experience using CRM software, digital estimating/quoting tools, and financing platforms on a tablet or laptop.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Flexibility to run appointments during evenings or weekends to accommodate customer schedules.
