About The Position

The Retreat Registered Nurse, with the assistance of the Director of Nursing, is responsible for planning, counseling, implementing, and delivery of services by the nursing staff to ensure the satisfaction of the Residents and Family. The RN is responsible to assure the planned care is delivered in a safe, economical and efficient manner, which follows facility’s policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee patient care to ensure the satisfaction of Residents and Family by reviewing resident status, developing relationships with residents and families and resolving problems and complaints.
  • Conduct Stand Up Meetings, notifying C.N.A.s at the beginning of each shift of any pertinent information related to resident safety, quality of care, appointments, etc.
  • Perform Facility Rounds, making rounds of the building and ensuring appropriate staff correct any findings throughout the shift.
  • Manage Employee and Staffing, including printing and posting the Daily Assignment Sheet, printing the daily census, ensuring adequate staff, receiving call outs and ensuring staffing needs are met, contacting RNH employees to cover shifts before notifying agency, working as Charge Nurse if there is a nurse call out for the 7A-7P shift, and addressing employee concerns.
  • Manage Resident Care, including reconciling and entering medications in Matrix (E.H.R.) for hospital returns on weekends, assisting the charge nurse as needed, monitoring and assisting in the Dining Room during meals, completing incident report forms for resident injuries or altercations, and printing POC to ensure meal intake and BMs are recorded.
  • Document all pertinent information in Matrix (E.H.R.).
  • Complete treatments as ordered and document in Matrix (E.H.R.), order and document any new treatment needs, and monitor and assist staff with the skin prevention program and bowel & bladder program.
  • Address any family or resident concerns or grievances as appropriate and document as indicated.
  • Mail Notification of bed hold letter to the responsible party when a resident is admitted to the hospital on Saturday or Sundays and put a copy in Rena’s box (Medicaid residents only).
  • Complete incident report for employee or visitor accidents.
  • Contact the Administrator on Call as needed for assistance.
  • Assist with activities as needed.
  • Keep portable phone to answer calls.
  • Distribute mail to residents as appropriate.
  • Arrive for the scheduled shift no earlier than fifteen (15) minutes before the shift begins and clock out no later than fifteen (15) minutes after the scheduled shift ends.
