About The Position

SM Tire is seeking a Retread Production Manager to oversee the operations of their retread facility. This role is responsible for ensuring used tires are processed and restored to meet safety and quality standards. The manager will handle quality control, workflow, equipment maintenance, casing control, finished product shipments, and utilization of Basys software. A key aspect of this position is maintaining a clean and safe working environment and assisting with shop tours. This is a hands-on role requiring significant time spent in the shop providing operational oversight. Training for the role and the retreading process will be provided.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) or 2 years of related experience and/ or Bandag Training
  • At least 3 years of staff management and production scheduling experience
  • Possess a high level of technical expertise, with the ability to apply skills to continuous process improvement, while maintaining maximum levels of safety
  • Possess computer skills and ability to learn new software applications
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, time management, attention to detail, organizational, planning, effective multi-tasking, problem-solving, follow-through and customer service skills
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds in weight
  • Possess a valid CA driver’s license, with a clean and insurance driving record
  • Ability to pass a drug test and pre-employment physical required

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the tire retreading process, ensuring both safety and quality standards are consistently met or exceeded
  • Open and close retread facility daily
  • Ensure the production unit meets established goals for quality and delivery
  • Supervise retread plant personnel in a positive and productive manner, while addressing any issues promptly and fairly
  • Assist in recruiting personnel, provide training and retraining, act as a mentor and assist in evaluating personnel, while fostering an efficient and effective work environment
  • Maintain and update technical information used in the shop
  • Troubleshoot and maintain equipment in the shop and throughout the plant
  • Practice safe work habits at all times and abide by industry, company, state and federal guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned by Executive Management
