About The Position

Retirement Strategies Group (RSG), a Strongpoint Partner, is seeking a Plan Accounting Associate to join and support our Plan Accounting department. This entry-level position plays a critical role in ensuring retirement plan transactions are processed accurately, timely, and in accordance with established procedures. In this role, you will assist with processing and reviewing plan contributions, distributions, enrollment forms, fees, and participant requests, while also supporting the participant call center. You will perform daily cash and fund reconciliations, complete trade processing, and help resolve discrepancies. This position blends detailed data analysis with ongoing communication, making it an excellent opportunity for an organized, detail-oriented multitasker who is interested in building a career in operations or financial services. This role is an in-person opportunity based out of the RSG office in New Orleans, LA; fully in-person work will be required for ~6 months with potential to shift to a hybrid schedule after training is complete. RSG operates on a “flex schedule” model which allows employees some flexibility regarding their specific work hours.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • 1–3 years of experience in operations, financial services, benefits administration, or a related field preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage data accurately across multiple systems
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple onboarding projects simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact professionally with clients
  • Comfortable working in a process-driven environment with structured workflows
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and experience working with internal systems or workflow platforms
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Process retirement plan contributions and distributions in accordance with plan requirements
  • Manage enrollment forms and participant materials, ensuring completeness and accuracy
  • Process applicable fees and maintain proper documentation
  • Perform daily cash and fund reconciliations to ensure accuracy of transactions
  • Complete daily trade processing activities in a timely manner
  • Utilize vendor platforms to review vesting, process distributions, and manage data uploads
  • Respond to participant inquiries and provide support to resolve issues or questions
  • Sort, scan, and organize incoming mail and assign statements appropriately
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to plan administration activities
  • Identify discrepancies or issues and collaborate with internal teams to resolve them
  • Support cross-functional teams, including operations and client service, to ensure smooth plan administration
  • Other duties as assigned
