About The Position

The Retention Specialist supports employee engagement, retention, and the successful onboarding of new hires by serving as a key liaison between Operations and Human Resources. This role monitors the new hire training and onboarding journey, conducts regular check-ins, identifies early retention risks, and partners with managers to ensure employees receive timely support and follow-up. The Retention Specialist also analyzes turnover trends, gathers employee feedback, tracks training completion, prepares retention and onboarding reports, and recommends process improvements that strengthen the employee experience and reduce preventable turnover.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in Human Resources, employee relations, or a similar role with a focus on retention strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions that enhance employee retention.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage employees and address concerns effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop effective solutions to employee retention challenges.
  • Strong organizational, follow-up, and documentation skills, with the ability to manage multiple new hire touchpoints simultaneously.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with employees, managers, Operations leaders, and HR partners.
  • Proficiency with HRIS, onboarding, learning management, and reporting systems used to track progress and document outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement retention strategies, including recognition initiatives and career development opportunities, aimed at improving employee satisfaction and reducing turnover.
  • Serve as a liaison between Operations and Human Resources to monitor new hire training progress and support the employee onboarding journey.
  • Monitor new hire onboarding progress to ensure employees receive timely support, required training, and appropriate follow-up.
  • Conduct new hire check-ins to gather feedback, answer questions, identify barriers, and support engagement throughout the onboarding period.
  • Identify early retention risks during the first 30, 60, and 90 days of employment, including training gaps, lack of manager follow-up, job expectation misalignment, and employee dissatisfaction.
  • Partner with Operations leaders to ensure managers are meeting with new hires regularly and addressing onboarding, training, or performance concerns early.
  • Conduct surveys and feedback sessions to identify areas for improvement and monitor job satisfaction levels.
  • Analyze turnover data and employee feedback to pinpoint trends and develop actionable solutions.
  • Support training completion tracking, escalate gaps, and help ensure employees are prepared to succeed in their roles.
  • Prepare retention and onboarding reports compiling onboarding feedback, turnover trends, training progress, and retention risk indicators for HR and Operations leadership.
  • Assist in developing and implementing retention campaigns that promote employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Track and document employee interactions and retention initiatives for reporting and future reference.
  • Recommend process improvements to the onboarding experience, training process, communication, and manager accountability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
