About The Position

Tender Loving Empire (TLE) is seeking a creative, highly organized, and passionate Retail Visual Merchandiser to join their team. This role will be instrumental in bringing TLE's mission and values to life across their 7 retail stores. The Visual Merchandiser will shape how customers experience the stores by presenting products, celebrating makers and their stories, and ultimately impacting store performance. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong visual eye and a strategic approach to merchandising, working closely with retail teams to create beautiful, thoughtful spaces that encourage exploration, discovery, and connection.

  • Ability to use common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to analyze sales reports and adjust strategy accordingly.
  • Able to stay motivated and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent education.
  • Minimum two years in a specialty retail and/or customer service role.
  • Minimum one year in a visual merchandising role.
  • Ability to work full time across all TLE locations including variable hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends and/ or holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Develop creative and effective merchandising strategies for incoming products and product launches to support visibility, storytelling, and sales.
  • Develop and execute seasonal and promotional floor displays in alignment with brand standards and to drive customer engagement and sales.
  • Assist in the execution of seasonal window displays, including craft projects, window painting, display builds, and vinyl installations, and be responsible for product placement in windows.
  • Maintain consistent merchandising standards across all retail locations, using the Merchandising Guide and in-person instruction, and regularly update the guide.
  • Analyze sales trends and customer experience feedback to identify merchandising opportunities, develop solutions, and improve presentation, customer experience, and sales performance.
  • Translate feedback and strategic direction from leadership into actionable merchandising plans and oversee their execution.
  • Partner with Retail Managers to maintain organized backstock and stockrooms for efficient restocking and a safe workspace.
  • Communicate merchandising updates, expectations, and changes to store teams to ensure alignment and consistent execution.
  • Support store teams with product questions and issue resolution, including damages, markdowns, negative inventory, and missing product.
  • Assist with inventory movements, transfers, and liquidations to support merchandising strategy and operational needs.
  • Ensure stores and HQ have effective merchandising fixtures, props, and display materials.
  • Consult on signage needs and placement to improve customer experience, communicate product information, and support sales.
  • Provide customer service support as needed while working on the sales floor.
  • Provide retail floor coverage as needed, including covering shifts to support store operations and staffing needs.
