About The Position

Under supervision of the Retail management staff, the Retail Team Lead is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operation of all Zoo & Aquarium gift shops and retail locations. This position also assists with some aspects of supervision of part-time and seasonal retail staff.

Requirements

  • Previous retail, inventory, and cash control experience required.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Can move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and occasional evening hours, in all weather extremes.
  • Must pass a background and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists retail managers with the day-to-day operation of all gift shops and retail locations, including: Assisting with daily tasks, such as opening/closing procedures, cashiering, customer service, cleaning, stocking, and organizing merchandise.
  • Assisting with receiving and tagging of all merchandise.
  • Aiding with physical inventory process and inventory control.
  • Assists with certain aspects of supervision over part-time and seasonal retail team members, including: Helping with training and continued development of staff.
  • Organizing staff breaks and supervising daily projects.
  • Ensuring policy compliance of staff, including quality guest service and cash control policies and procedures.
  • May at times be requested to perform other duties or special projects as assigned, which are in the best interest of the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium.
