About The Position

The Retail Supervisor supports daily store and donation center operations while helping lead and motivate the team. The role focuses on delivering excellent customer service, meeting production and revenue goals, and maintaining strong merchandising standards. The position understands and follows policies, procedures, and programs, and typically works on projects and tasks spanning one day to three months. It involves basic knowledge of the discipline’s procedures and methods, applying customer-service fundamentals, responding to routine requests, and completing routine work under close supervision and review. The supervisor also serves as a Goodwill ambassador in the community and may participate in volunteer opportunities as schedule and interest permit.

The role requires regular movement and lifting: regularly lifting or moving 10 pounds, frequently up to 20 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Duties may involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and standing for long periods. The worker may be exposed to varying weather conditions, human blood, body fluids or tissue, and hazards such as dangerous machinery, moving vehicles, electrical currents, chemicals, or high places. Hearing is required to respond to equipment warning devices, and vision is required for computer use, written and electronic information, and assessing store and donation center operations. Travel is required.

Compensation placement considers education, experience, internal equity, market demands, and other qualifying criteria. Some roles may be eligible for an incentive plan, subject to its terms and conditions; participation does not guarantee payment. Requirements

• Two years of supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to complete and retain forklift certification.
• Ability to work a varied schedule and flexible hours, including at least two closing shifts per week and every other weekend as scheduled; additional night and weekend shifts may be required to meet business needs.
• Must have a working phone that allows for communication accessibility.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage assigned work to complete routine responsibilities reliably, and follow through on learning and skill development needed to adapt to change.
• Maximize the value of donated goods and maintain production and store-environment standards.
• Coordinate merchandise rotation to ensure a continuous flow of new goods in the store.
• Support employee training and coaching, promote a productive and collaborative team, and ensure adequate coverage at point of sale and in donations.
• Assist with hiring associates, including conducting phone screens and training as needed.
• Serve as a service experience leader; operate the register, assign tills, maintain efficient customer flow and sales staff productivity, and ensure proper cash controls.
• Maintain a safe and orderly work environment and ensure employees use equipment safely and follow safe work practices.
• Work with Store Management on apprehensions in accordance with established loss-prevention policies and procedures.
• Complete required reports accurately and on time, and share insights or concerns from report data or other documentation with leadership.
• Communicate and implement policies and procedures consistently, reporting concerns to leadership.
• Plan and organize work assignments to improve customer service and protect assets.
• Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Represent Goodwill in the wider community and participate in volunteer opportunities as schedule and interest permit.
