About The Position

Scenthound is seeking a Retail Store Manager to oversee a growing grooming center. This role involves formulating overall strategy, managing people, and establishing policies. The ideal candidate will be a thoughtful leader and confident decision-maker, focused on developing employees, increasing productivity, and driving profit growth. This position requires comfort and enjoyment in working with dogs. Scenthound is a membership-based franchise offering affordable, wellness-focused dog care, founded in 2015 and franchising since 2019. With rapid nationwide growth and a goal of over 200 locations by the end of 2026, Scenthound is becoming a leading provider of routine and preventive dog care. Unlike ordinary grooming shops, Scenthound prioritizes routine care for dog health and cleanliness, pioneering change in the industry with its innovative, wellness-focused, membership-based model.

Requirements

Proven experience as a General Manager or similar executive role
Experience in planning and budgeting
Knowledge of business process and functions (finance, HR, procurement, operations etc.)
Strong analytical ability
Outstanding organizational and leadership skills
Problem-solving aptitude
Ability to work an assortment of days, including weekends when needed
Ability to manage with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promotes the mission of Scenthound
Strong leadership skills with ability to coach & mentor team members in a culture-first environment
Excellent communication skills (verbal & written), including the ability to communicate complex ideas in simple terms
Proficient computer and CRM skills (Microsoft Office, Internet, E-mail)

Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day operations
Manage employee and center appointment schedule
Drive sales growth
Maintain budgets and optimize expenses
Set policies and processes
Ensure employees work productively and develop professionally
Oversee recruitment, hiring and training of new employees
Evaluate and improve operations and financial performance
Direct the employee assessment process
Prepare regular reports for upper management
Ensure staff follows health and safety regulations
Provide solutions to issues (e.g. profit decline, employee conflicts, loss of business to competitors)
Advocate for all dogs in our care and in our community
Incorporate the value of Scenthound’s brand, Mission and Core Values
Drive membership sales through health and wellness education
Administer training program to ensure all staff are knowledgeable
Lead and support the Scenter Management Team to reach and exceed our key performance goals
Be a culture-driven leader and inspire your team to seek growth
Attend events and foster positive community-relations
Ensure safety of staff, customers, and dogs at all times
Responsible for manager and employee development through leadership, training, and performance reviews
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by leadership team
