Retail Store Manager
About The Position
Goodwill Northern New England is a nonprofit social enterprise that helps people achieve their life and work goals. Goodwill store revenues fund our mission, supporting programs such as workforce training, group homes for adults with disabilities, community support, AmeriCorps programs, and business-cleaning services. Requirements
- Associate Degree or equivalent experience
- Two years of successful supervisory experience at Goodwill; or 2+ years of successful store manager experience with full P&L responsibility in a small box environment; or 1+ years of successful management experience in a big box environment
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Knowledge of retail operations, including inventory management and pricing strategies.
- Familiarity with retail point-of-sale systems and inventory tracking software.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings and weekends.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in business, retail management, or a related field.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish or another relevant language is a plus.

Responsibilities
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of employees, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Set performance expectations, provide coaching and feedback, and promote staff development.
- Ensure customers receive excellent service by setting and maintaining high customer interactions, merchandising, and store cleanliness standards.
- Oversee inventory control, including pricing, stocking, and rotation of merchandise to maximize sales and minimize waste.
- Develop and implement strategies to drive sales growth, including merchandising displays, promotions, and customer engagement initiatives.
- Manage store budgets and financial performance, monitoring expenses and revenue to achieve budget targets.
- Maintain merchandise quality standards and ensure all items meet Goodwill's quality guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with all Goodwill policies, as well as federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Represent Goodwill in the local community, building positive relationships with customers, donors, and community partners.
