Temporary Seasonal Retail Store Associate- Part-Time (Nights and Weekend Availability)
About The Position
The Seasonal Peak Associate role at Ocean State Job Lot is a temporary seasonal position supporting essential store operations, including register support, freight receiving, and product merchandising in designated areas. The role contributes to a positive customer experience and efficient store operations in a fast-paced, dynamic environment during peak seasons and in newly opened stores. Associates provide customer service, handle transactions, maintain and replenish merchandise displays, receive and organize deliveries, move fixtures, follow safety protocols, and keep store areas clean and organized. Work locations may include the sales floor, stockroom or receiving area, and operations or office area, with conditions that vary by store.
Requirements
- Basic math and reading skills.
- Legible handwriting.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform the physical activities required for the role, including frequent use of hand tools, ladder climbing, moving, reaching, and lifting; should be able to lift 35 pounds regularly.

- Prior merchandise receiving, handling, and stocking experience in retail or warehouse environments.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional service, build friendly rapport, exemplify the T.R.E.A.T. model, and foster a welcoming environment.
- Operate a cash register, handle transactions accurately, and assist customers with product inquiries, item locations, and purchases.
- Promote company-wide customer initiatives, including donations, loyalty programs, and special offers.
- Maintain accurate displays, restock assigned areas, and meet merchandising standards.
- Unload deliveries according to company processes, organize merchandise, and prepare it for the sales floor.
- Safely set up and move fixtures as needed.
- Collaborate effectively and independently to achieve goals, and communicate opportunities for improvement to store leadership.
- Understand, support, and implement store safety protocols.
- Keep the environment neat, organized, and safe through regular cleaning and janitorial tasks.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by supervisors or managers.
