About The Position

Goodwill of Central Iowa is seeking a Full-Time Shift Leader to assist with operations management and training donated-goods retail employees. This role involves upholding Goodwill's values of love, kindness, and respect while contributing to the smooth operation of the retail store. The Shift Leader will be responsible for various operational procedures, customer service, and maintaining store standards.

Requirements

  • Previous related full-time supervisory experience - softlines and hardlines preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills for daily employee and customer interactions.
  • Effective communication skills to coach others.
  • Efficient problem-solving abilities.
  • Flexibility to work positively on a team within Goodwill of Central Iowa's values.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.
  • Ability to run cash register, computer, wheeled carts and clothing racks, pallet jacks; potential for forklift operation dependent on work location.
  • Ability to work independently and be flexible; adaptable to change.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and assign/monitor work.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft office suite including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to work under pressure, maintain accuracy and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and dependent adult and child abuse background check.
  • High school diploma or its equivalent or currently attending high school or GED classes.
  • A minimum of 2 years of any combination of military service, high school or related paid employment.
  • Ability to carry, lift, push or pull up to 40 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to tolerate variations in work environment temperature.
  • Ability to be stationary or mobile for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in coaching and training store employees.
  • Open and close the store.
  • Handle operational procedures such as bank deposits, paperwork, and reporting.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Perform cashiering duties.
  • Process and price donated goods.
  • Keep the store clean and organized.
  • Train employees using various platforms including in-person, online, and written processes.
  • Provide work performance feedback to employees using GCI’s values.
  • Assist in coaching and assigning work to the team to meet sales and production goals.
  • Support the Mission Services department and activities through the round-up program.
  • Respond effectively and promptly to customer needs.
  • Assist in store DGR (donated goods retail) processes of sorting, pricing, and rotating merchandise.
  • Monitor production and sales to achieve store goals.
  • Complete daily communication log to organize and assign work to team members.
  • Monitor new employee training progress.
  • Monitor and assist in maintaining internal and external appearance standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
