About The Position

EZCORP is hiring a Retail Sales Associate / Retail Customer Service Team Member (Pawnbroker) for its EZPawn store at 2040 Bessemer Rd., Birmingham, Alabama 35208. The role is an in-store customer service and sales position in a fast-paced retail environment, helping customers with pawn items such as jewelry, electronics, and musical instruments and working toward mutually satisfying agreements. The position pays $14 to $15 per hour based on experience, with opportunities to increase pay and advance through a structured career path. New hires begin as trainees in a five-week paid training program; successful completion brings a $0.50 hourly raise and promotion to Pawnbroker. Additional advancement opportunities include Pawnbroker Certification, Lead Pawnbroker (Shift Leader), and Assistant Manager, which includes a six-month training program.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Customer service, cashier, or retail experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to multitask.
• Self-motivation, a positive and outgoing personality, and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug test after a conditional offer.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and regulations.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of commonly pawned items, such as tools, jewelry, firearms, or electronics.
• Sales background.
• Bilingual skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers in person and by phone, providing friendly, courteous, and respectful service.
• Process sales, loans, and extensions.
• Perform store opening and closing duties.
• Help customers reach mutually satisfying agreements regarding pawn items.
