About The Position

The Retail Sales Associate supports The Salvation Army Thrift Store by providing a welcoming shopping experience for customers and donors and assisting with retail operations. The role helps turn donated goods into resources that support The Salvation Army’s community programs. Comprehensive Point of Sale (POS) system training is provided, with proficiency expected within three months. Ongoing professional development opportunities are available.

Requirements

• High school diploma or currently pursuing a high school diploma.
• Strong English communication skills for customer and team interactions.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Professional appearance and adherence to the dress code.
• Reliable and team-oriented mindset.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to move throughout the store.
• Physical ability to handle merchandise and maintain store appearance.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and offer assistance to provide exceptional customer service.
• Process sales transactions accurately using the POS system, including opening, closing, and balancing.
• Maintain the store’s appearance by cleaning, organizing, and restocking.
• Process and display new merchandise to help meet daily production goals.
• Contribute to a positive shopping environment.
• Work collaboratively with the team and maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
