About The Position

As a Retail Associate, you serve as a brand ambassador and help create exceptional in-store experiences through positive customer interactions. You use problem-solving and sales abilities to answer customer questions and make product recommendations while supporting Columbia Sportswear Company’s values of customer service and teamwork. Associates help ensure product availability, maintain visual displays, address customer inquiries, and operate checkout processes, while assisting the Store Leadership team in supporting the company’s mission of “Connecting Active People with Their Passions.” The role is part-time, seasonal, and hourly, with a starting wage of $14 per hour. Applicants must be at least 16 years old.

Requirements

• Be at least 16 years of age.
• Have 2 or fewer years of experience in a position or specialization.
• Be skilled in operating inventory and point-of-sale (POS) systems and other retail software tools.
• Communicate clearly with others.
• Be available to work a flexible retail schedule that may change seasonally and in response to location-specific business trends or forecasts.
• No specific education is required; a high school diploma or GED is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service by responding to questions or issues about product features, benefits, and availability, and understanding customers’ needs and preferences.
• Demonstrate and explain merchandise and suggest suitable options to customers.
• Maintain store standards for visual merchandising, cleanliness, and safety.
• Retrieve merchandise from the sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations.
• Perform cash register transactions, including sales, returns, exchanges, and loyalty program connections, accurately and efficiently.
• Receive, handle, replenish, and process incoming and outgoing product to contribute to store profitability.
